Inspired by “The Kiss”

Inspired by Helloooo there, Monday. Nice to see you again.

Jack posted this a few weeks ago and while surfing around this weekend I found some more info on what it’s all about. Entitled “The Kiss” it is part of Tino Sehgal’s show, currently going on at the Guggenheim. Here’s a snippet from the NY Times review:

The sensuous pas de deux, titled “Kiss,” is in progress. As choreography it will hold no surprises for anyone familiar with contemporary dance. Taken as living sculpture, it has amusing moments: every so often, the performers strike erotic poses derived from Courbet, Rodin, Brancusi and Jeff Koons.

Inspired by the piece, Flavorwire took real couples to the numerous other museums of New York and photographed them in the heat of passion. Neat series; Jack and I plan on seeing the exhibit before it closes.

Alice in FashionlandAnd a happy Monday to you! Wow, I had forgotten about this beautiful series by Annie Leibovitz, done for Vogue in 2003! Seems appropriate to post since the movie is right around the corner.Alice in FashionlandAlice in FashionlandAlice in FashionlandAlice in FashionlandAlice in FashionlandVia TrendLand

Walking in the Snow

Walking in the Snow
Yesterday was very nice! Rei and I walked all over Central Park and watched all the kids enjoy their day off. Later I met up with Diana, Ranise and Ben for a screening of “How to Make it in America.” The show looks pretty good, but it’s hard to tell from one 30-minute episode… For more pictures from the day (sadly, not a lot since my battery ran out), check out my Flickr Pool!

In other news: I’m so excited about tomorrow!! More on that later!

The Faith of Graffiti

The Faith of Graffiti
Met up with Diana and Ben to hear a very cool talk for the re-release of The Faith of Graffiti, put on by powerHouse Books. Not only was the creator of the book, Jon Naar, there, but many of the “writers” featured in the original 1974 release were too. It was amazing to hear the different perspectives on the motives of graffiti, whether it was political, artistic or was done just out of boredom. It was a great primer on the origins of tagging in New York. I especially thought it was cool that I went to this right after I saw that Banksy trailer!

O Mia O

O Mia O by SZYMON ROGINSKI
Somewhere between fashion and art, the second and third dimension these wonderful pieces done by Szymon Roginski, for designer Ania Kuczynska exist.

This work was inspired by cubism.
We tried to break 2 dimensional sense of photography as well as cubist painters in 20’s tried to break 2 dimensions in painting.
