Project Runway Reunion Show
I’m soooo disappointed with how this season has turned out. I loved Kenley, at first, and now I’m disappointed how, as her design quality has declined, her bitchy attitude has increased. I can’t believe they didn’t cut her after the terrible botanical gown challenge (or that “avant-garde” disaster). It was very clear who the three strongest designers were: Leanne, Korto and Jerrel. And that should have been that. But, noooo, they had to do the same stupid surprise they did last season… with a twist! I rolled my eyes a lot during that. I guess it all comes down to, “WTF are the judges smoking this season!?”

Anyways, aside from my ramble… Project Runway seems that it will not be putting on it’s normal and always uncomfortable reunion show. So Project Rungay put on their own! Funny funny stuff (and I have a new favorite blog)!

Boots Boots Boots…

This will be my, I think, second year searching for the perfect casual, yet classic, boot. My main barrier in finding it has been price… still is, as the following list will show. So, these are my favorites from the more corporate outlets. (I still need to head over to Etsy, Ebay and the likes.)

Marc Makes Me Merry (sneak peek)

Marc Makes Me Merry (detail)
I’m still on a fashion high from Marc Jacobs’ show last week. So I’m working on fashion illustration / digital collages inspired by the collection. Think of it as fashion fan art. I’m considering doing a few more and selling some prints… how easy is an etsy shop to get started? More latas!

M.I.A. Wears

MIA wears
What can I say, the girl so very fierce, so I’m totally lovin’ the Okley Run store on M.I.A.’s site. I’m epically taken with the “Mexico Body” suit towards the bottom of the page! It’s a little pricey for me these days, but maybe I’ll splurge in the near future!

Oooh, Marc Jacobs!

Marc Jacobs Spring 2009
Marc, just take me with you, where ever you go! Dress me up! I just so in love with your spring line! It’s like you climbed into my brain and pulled out the most perfect outfits! (I had the hardest narrowing down which pieces to post. I was going to post five, but I couldn’t do any more trimming; it’s all so good!)

:D

Fashion Week, Spring 2009
I finally gathered up the guts to ask for a raise and I got it! Last night Jack and I went to Pershing Square (right out side Grand Central) to celebrate! YUM!

Afterward we walked over to Bryant Park and took a snapshot of all the hoopla going on there (and hoping to see Tim Gunn). Oh, I would love love love to go to the Project Runway show!!

On a side note, do these look like knockoff Manolos to you?
Manolo Blahnik
Someone threw out a bag of shoes and these were sitting on top. They’re pretty neat and they fit me, I just need to fix the heels.

Ditch the Shampoo!

Ditch the Shampoo
Great article over at The Coveted about how to get out of that shampoo cycle, which is not great for the environment or your hair. This is something I will absolutely try.

Shampoos are detergents for hair. Just like dish washing detergent, laundry detergent, they strip the hair of it’s natural moisturizers by cutting through the grease, that’s why we need conditioner to replace the oils. Then the glands go into overdrive to replace the stripped oil, producing greasy hair, which then needs more shampoo, conditioner, etc.

It’s a vicious cycle.

I’m saying this from personal experience. When I wash my hair with shampoo, it looks good the day it’s washed, and if I go one day without washing, it’s greasy. Since I’ve started using baking soda/apple cider vinegar/honey in my hair I’ve been able to stretch washes two to four days without getting ‘greasy hair’.

Button Bouquet

Button Bouquet
One of my best friends, Nia, got “unofficially” engaged a little over a month ago (YAY!), and while on The Scoop, I was reminded of these adorable button bouquets I saw at a card shop recently. Nia is a fashion designer and I think would be perfect for her wedding day! (I will say, the one’s found on The Scoop, made by Princess Lasertron, are much more well-crafted and creative than the one I took a picture of.) So cute!!

Randomness

The Hulk and Kung Fu Panda
Just a post about a bunch of things, at once. Thursday we saw Hellboy 2 (Jack enjoyed it, but I thought it was okay) and I wore my fabulous new thrift shoes (which I got while on our Santa Cruz trip, for $5). The rest of the weekend was spent further painting, cleaning and general spritzing up of our new place (YAY for fresh flowers!). We made book cases out of the drawers and slats from my old IKEA bed (hmmm, they don’t seem to be selling it anymore). It’s so much fun putting this place together! It’s, finally, really starting to come together… housewarming party coming soon!
