Jack and I are the kind of people who like to sleep in, whenever possible. So, it was a little odd for us to be making plans to wake up earlier than we do on the weekdays! Sunday was to be a touristy, date-day; and though plans didn’t turn out like we thought, we made the most of our day!
We had breakfast (not brunch) with our dear, lovely friend. Then went antique/flea market shopping in Hell’s Kitchen. Finally we trekked over to B&H where Jack got me a wonderful present (more on that later!). Twas a very pleasant Sunday! Makes me consider getting up early on the weekend a little bit more.
*Waves* Crazy time at work these past few day! Just wanted to wish everyone an awesome weekend. Jack and I have some fun stuff planned, I’ll let you know how it goes lata! Peace!

*Phew* It’s been a little while, huh? And it seems things have gotten a little political, too… And, though I have thought about writing about my extreme disappointment that Prop 8 went through, I don’t want things to get too heavy-handed here. Perhaps I’ll get into it later.
Anyways, Jack and I had a very eventful weekend, full of out-of-town-ers and birthdays!
Friday night old Atlanta friends came to town and we went out for soup dumplings in China Town and dive bars at Tompkins Square. We met and took pictures (which I am still waiting on) with an amazing Obama impersonator. He even got two of his buddies to dress up as (very convincing) secret service!
Saturday, was Mani’s birthday! And, to celebrate, a huge group of us went to our favorite birthday restaurant, Milon (or, as we like to call it, Indian Techno). I highly, highly recommend, but be prepared for tight quarters, lots of chili pepper and christmas lights, loud music and tons of fun!
i am so tired and happy! Things have been non-stop in our world since Thursday night. Like I said last week, having visitors is the best!
This was a long (but still, not long enough!) weekend of dinner in Chinatown/Little Italy, shopping waaay too much (but walking away with some great buys!), swinging in the park, grilling on fire escapes, sushi, Lemongrass (karaoke!), walking in the sun, Marines in bars, The Beer Garden, Crocodile Lounge (pizza!), subway Zamboni, Coney Island, sand, not enough sunscreen, fun, friends and adventure! *phew* I hope Lisa comes back sooooon!
This weekend we had company, which is something that always excites me! Though today, Sunday, wasn’t the best, weather-wise, Saturday could not have been a more beautiful day to take in some of the sites that I, somewhat, take for granted, not being a tourist.
I knew that the beautiful weather we had been enjoying, pretty much all month, couldn’t last forever… and yesterday the rain came. Actually, most of Sunday was just kind of nasty, cold, and overcast. Today it’s been pouring. After the last few weeks, where we had blue skies and temperatures upwards towards the 80’s, all the gray and it plummeting back down into the 50’s, was a tad upsetting.
Yesterday, despite the less-than-great weather, we took a trip all the way down to the Financial District. For those of you who don’t know, this area pretty much shuts down after business hours and on the weekends (except for right around Ground Zero, for the tourists), so traveling so far on a trip mainly for food probably wasn’t the best of ideas. We made the best of it, finding a cute Mexican restaurant, poking around the maze of clothing that is Century 21, and grabbing some coffee at South Street Seaport / Pier 17.
It was an absolutely beautiful weekend and I got very itchy with the spring cleaning bug. We’re still about half way through with all the rearranging, or I would have taken more pictures. Saturday was, much to my pleasure, nearly in the 80’s, which allowed me to open up all the windows and really air out the apartment. As you can see, more painting happened (I shall post the final product in a few minutes), Jack made a wonderful breakfast, we moved the couch into the bedroom, and worked on expanding the office area. We did end up going to a friend’s birthday party, but, it was, for the most part, just a productive weekend staying in.
This weekend I took a trip back to my hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. I managed to cram a ton of friends and family time into three short days. It was my cousin’s wedding shower and one of my best friend’s birthday. Not a whole lot of sleep happened, but who cares when your having so much fun! And, although Jack wasn’t able to join me on this trip, he gave me the best welcome-back reception ever!
