As predicted the weekend was very peaceful. Saturday I began my mini-fast and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned! The sunlight was simply gorgeous! I pulled back all the curtains and let it all in. Our avocado plants are really enjoying the weather, too. Sunday, Jack and I took a little stroll up Madison (which is one of my favorite places to wander). We picked up some fancy macarons from La Maison du Chocolat and some fixings for leak and onion soup. The soup was fantastic and the macarons were the perfect dessert (my favorite was the pink one, which was chocolate raspberry)!
And to celebrate Jack and I went down, during my lunch break, to check out the Union Square Greenmarket! I highly recommend checking it out; open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday. It’s wonderful to see all the local producers and everyone mingling, enjoying the warmth! We got some nice organic steak and turkey, which I am very much looking forward to cooking up!
In other news, YES, more puppy pictures… I love French Bulldogs! Enjoy your weekend and the beginning of Spring!

I think I remember Jack saying he would love to get into something like this!
Unlicensed restaurants have long prospered overseas. In Hong Kong, si fang cai, or speak-easies, in private homes are considered by many to have the best food in the city. But clandestine kitchens are a more recent phenomenon in the United States.
Last night I tried out a NY Times “recipe” I found the other day: A Potato Salad of a Different Color. With only vague measurements and instructions, this is the closest I’ve ever come to really cooking. Mine doesn’t look quite as pretty as the professional photo, but it was delicious and I proud of myself!
What a yucky day! Rainy days are meant for sleeping in! *Le sigh* The weekend was a nice one, though. Friday night we had sushi with Jack’s company at Matsuri. Saturday was our crews’ monthly “Brunch Day,” where we all meet up at Bondi Road for food and tons of mimosas; and then precede to bar hop around the neighborhood. It was a delight, as always! Sunday, I tagged along as Jack had some business to attend do, and got some Artichoke! Jack then drove with his friend out to the airport and I took a very long and nice walk back uptown (nearly 85 streets up and 5 avenues over!).
Anywho, I’m not sure how I missed Bat For Lashes “Two Suns” when it came out. I’ve been listening to it all weekend. Beautiful album, from beginning to end!
Hello, all! We had a full and wonderful weekend. This year is starting off very well indeed! Friday: Jack and I both took a half-day so we could get our apartment ready for a little “Old Roomies” party. Corey, Rei and Drew came over and we nibbled on spinach, mushroom and four cheese lasagna (lovingly made by me from scratch)! Saturday: Our friend, Josh had a “Welcome Back” gathering. Twas very chill. We just drank a bit and played Celebrity. Sunday: Jack surprised me with a great date night! We got all dressed up, went down to Cafe Iguana, drank mango sangria and listened to the amazing Danielle Lovelace. After the show, I was in such a mood that I was willing to take a little stroll around Time Square!
Once upon a time a California boy met a Georgia girl in New York. They didn't get along, at first. But, little by little, they fell in love. Today they are happy and still very much in love, running a business and a blog together.
