Scouting NY put together a fun collection of then-and-now pictures of NYC to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Ghostbusters. Check out Part 1 & Part 2!
Just a post about a bunch of things, at once. Thursday we saw Hellboy 2 (Jack enjoyed it, but I thought it was okay) and I wore my fabulous new thrift shoes (which I got while on our Santa Cruz trip, for $5). The rest of the weekend was spent further painting, cleaning and general spritzing up of our new place (YAY for fresh flowers!). We made book cases out of the drawers and slats from my old IKEA bed (hmmm, they don’t seem to be selling it anymore). It’s so much fun putting this place together! It’s, finally, really starting to come together… housewarming party coming soon!
No time to sit through a two hour movie? Like bunny rabbits? Then 30-Second Bunnies Theatre is perfect for you! (It made Napoleon Dynamite more bearable, I.M.O.)
(Thank you, Morgan, for sending this to me again!)
DVICE got a sneak-peek at this upcoming exhibit at the MET. I feel kinda dorky by how much I want to see this! I might have to talk Jack into taking a weekend adventure over there.
The show has three types of costumes on display. First, there are original superhero costumes that were worn by actors in the major superhero movies — Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, Iron Man, Catwoman (from Batman Returns, not Catwoman), and Mystique are in the gallery below.
The “real” superhero costumes are juxtaposerd with fantastical outfits put together by today’s hot designers, including Versace, Armani, Docle & Gabbana, and John Galliano. Finally, the curators included some contemporary sportswear that has clearly been influenced by superhero costume designs — think Speedo’s controversial new Fastskin LZR suit and Spyder’s ski race suits. The backdrops behind all the costumes were designed by Nathan Crowley, production designer for the new Christian Bale Batman films. All in all, a good time.
For those of you jetting through New York over the next few months, the exhibit opens on Wednesday, May 7 and runs through September 1.
Once upon a time a California boy met a Georgia girl in New York. They didn't get along, at first. But, little by little, they fell in love. Today they are happy and still very much in love, running a business and a blog together.
