Nightcall

Aw, man was Drive good! The slow, tension-filled build, Ryan Gosling’s mysterious, yet so hardcore character, that jacket (!) and one amazing soundtrack! “Nightcall” plays during the title sequence of the film and really does it’s job to set the tone.

Rob Ager’s Film Analysis

I’ve been spending hours going through the fascinating and in depth breakdowns and interpretations of numerous classic films by Mr Ager. Be sure to watch more of his analyses.

I particularly recommend “Carrying the torch” (Pulp Fiction), “The Antidote Sequel” (Aliens) and “Mazes, mirrors, deception and denial” (The Shining).

Strangest, Most Amazing Movie Review

I really have no words for how hilarious this is… Watch parts 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7!

Finally it’s here! The truly epic review/critique/analysis/film making educational video of the 1999 film “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” There was so much to discuss with this film it had to be long so please don’t complain. If you think it’s too long then don’t watch it. In this opening segment I discuss the major flaw of The Phantom Menace which is the characters and the lack of connection with the audience.

Film the Blanks

Film the Blanks
These beautiful abstractions of movie posters are just wonderful to look at; but the best part is how the blog has turned it into a sort of guessing game. Oh the fun!

Sita Sings the Blues

Sita Sings the Blues
I just got finished watching the much talked about Site Sings the Blues, and I must say, I was very impressed.

From the press kit:

Sita is a goddess separated from her beloved Lord and husband Rama. Nina is an animator whose husband moves to India, then dumps her by email. Three hilarious shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic Ramayana. Set to the 1920′s jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw, Sita Sings the Blues earns its tagline as “the Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told.”

Sita Sings the Blues
The interpretation is incredibly unique and entertaining. I also loved Nina’s personal breakup story which is a subplot contained in the film. The movie is available for streaming and download here!

Why So Serious?

Why So Serious?
The parents have been in town and we’ve been having a great time… but more details about that latas.

Jack and I saw a very late showing of The Dark Knight Sunday night (got back to the apartment at about 4!). I could go on and on about the movie, but since I don’t want to give away anything, I’ll hold back. Twas absolutely incredible! It’s tied with Wall-E as my favorite movie of the year. Borderlining on a horror film, it was so intense, I spent half the film with my hands close to my face. OH! And there was a teaser trailer for Watchmen. I got fan-girl goosebumps all over!
