I mean, come on! How friggin’ cool is this! I love a clean work-space and have been pining for a light-table. Wonderful!
Commonhumans made this desk by taking a vintage X-ray backlight that he found at a university surplus store. To DIY this desk yourself, you’ll need wall brackets to mount the x-ray light perpendicular to the wall. Commonhumans says the light is helpful when he does tracing for graphic and interior design.

Very neat, but I don’t think I could do it myself… it would turn my stomach a little to cut up all that money!
As our financial markets continue to meltdown and our currency is in flux (I recently found myself staring blankly at a $14 Whopper at the Zurich International Airport), Mark Wagner seems to be having the time of his life.
Wagner, a collage artist, has been busy cutting up thousands of U.S. one dollar bills and reshuffling the pieces into fantastic works of art. The meticulousness of these collages is awe-inspiring.

*Phew* It’s been a little while, huh? And it seems things have gotten a little political, too… And, though I have thought about writing about my extreme disappointment that Prop 8 went through, I don’t want things to get too heavy-handed here. Perhaps I’ll get into it later.
Anyways, Jack and I had a very eventful weekend, full of out-of-town-ers and birthdays!
Friday night old Atlanta friends came to town and we went out for soup dumplings in China Town and dive bars at Tompkins Square. We met and took pictures (which I am still waiting on) with an amazing Obama impersonator. He even got two of his buddies to dress up as (very convincing) secret service!

Saturday, was Mani’s birthday! And, to celebrate, a huge group of us went to our favorite birthday restaurant, Milon (or, as we like to call it, Indian Techno). I highly, highly recommend, but be prepared for tight quarters, lots of chili pepper and christmas lights, loud music and tons of fun!
