Happy Halloween to you! Ooo, I’m excited! Before I get into my plans I say American Apparel is having an awesome costume contest going on! There are some brilliant, creative entries and I highly recommend checking it out! (Above are Wall-e & Eve and two Mail-Order Brides.)
Jack, a few of our friends, and I are going to be roaming the streets of NY as Clue (the board game, not the movie)! Saddly, we are out Colonel Mustard, unless we find one very last minute. It will be amazing, none-the-less! Oh, and if you are in the city tonight, you should really try to be at 6th Ave. at 7:00PM for a recreation of the Ferris Bueller Beatles Sing-a-long! It’s going to be a blast!
On a much less serious note… I had no idea there was a video for this song, which is my favorite from that soundtrack!! I love Prince and I love Batman; the mixing of the two was pure genius!
I’m not a huge fan of her music, but Melissa Etheridge wrote a wonderful article about her “Typical Homo Family.” The struggles she and many other homosexual families have to go through is heartbreaking. And, I’m not going to say all the things I want to about Prop 8… It makes my too angry. Just know there’s a lot of cursing involved.
I know my preference of life mate freaks some people out. Maybe it is just their fear of sex or intimacy. Fine, let me stand before my creator and take any consequences there might be to living my life in truth and balance with my spirit.
Beautifully said! Thank you to Morgan for sending me this!

Well, last Friday was very productive, indeed, and I plan on keeping up on this limited-internet routine for a while. But before I log off, I wanted to share some pictures from this weekend. Friday night Jack and I ventured down to Banksy’s show, The Village Petstore and Charcoal Grill. It was very cool and not nearly as crazy-packed as I thought it was going to be. (That’s not to say it wasn’t packed… it was… but, I was half-expecting a line around the block.) We hope to check it out again before it closes on the 31st.
Then we saw these 3 Obama mannequins in a clothing store’s window. Then saw 3 more in the other window! Kinda creepy, but think of all the hope and change we could get out of SIX Obamas runnin’ round the White House!
Hilarious video about how, oddly enough, in birth control ads, sex and babies (or the lack thereof) aren’t really mentioned.
Man it’s been a looong week, for me. I have a lot I want to accomplish today, so, I’m avoiding the internet as much as I can. No surfing, no blogging (except for this…), no nothing that’s not productive towards my goals. (Maybe some LOLcats towards the end of the day… as a reward, for doing my work.) Now, one of my favorite songs to celebrate Friday! Have a fabulous weekend!
The 4-foot-tall plant sprouted up between concrete slabs in Sam Lal’s yard in Queens. He says the plant began to resemble an elephant’s head and trunk. Lal, a Hindu, told the New York Daily News that the plant has healed his back pain.
“They say God comes in many forms. I figure this has taken the form of a plant to come into my yard and bless me,” he said.
Last night I added my Destination watercolors to our shop as ACEO card prints! I still plan on doing more, since Jon and I have a lot of cities we want to see, but, as-of-now, it’s Florence, Tokyo, Cancun and Nice!
Even though I got a little sick this weekend, it was a very very nice one. I woke up Saturday and went through old sketches I had scanned in high school and college for any untapped ideas and thought I should get back in the habit of having a sketchbook/journal again. So, I picked up a ruled Van Gogh Moleskine at a nearby stationary store. Also, while out, this book caught my eye, and I couldn’t put it back on the shelf (which is so bizarre, cuz business and job books usually turn me off so thoroughly)!
What also made this weekend great was early Sunday morning, while we were asleep, we made our first sales! Holy cow! We have a series of ACEO cards (the cardinal, owl, peacock and cardinal) up in the shop, made from the watercolorbirds I did a little while back. Here’s to many more sales in the future!
Project Runway’s first winner, Jay McCarroll has just released a new collection of retro-beauty fabrics! I would love a dress, skirt, pants, bag, purse or any piece of furniture to be made out of or covered by his patterns!

P.S. Just caught the season finale of this season’s Project Runway and I must say “hats off” to Korto and Leanne! Both of them created stunning collections. Kenley’s show looked like a child put her outfits together next to theirs. Tim Gunn deserves a medal for putting up with her crap.
Yes, after searching through Etsy, websites and numerous shoe stores around the city, I finally found and bought a pair of sturdy, lace-up boots! Perfect!
