Creative Hookah Design

Creative Hookah Design
Ooo, cool hookahs. Saw these, and thought of our buddy Reina (who is Syrian, not a stoner… I didn’t even make the connection that yesterday was 4/20).

New Coins from the Royal Mint

The New Royal Mint Coins
Even though, in this day and age, coins may seem, sort of, obsolete, these are so stunning I’m thinking about buying one of the display collections.

The new designs have been chosen via an open competition which was widely publicised in the national media in August 2005 and attracted 4,000 entries. The winning designer is 26-year-old Matthew Dent, originally from Bangor who now lives and works in London as a graphic designer.

After exploring a number of different options, Matthew Dent finally developed the heraldic theme, taking the greatest heraldic device ever used on coinage – the Royal Arms.

…the Shield of the Royal Arms has been given a contemporary treatment and its whole has been cleverly split among all six denominations from the 1p to the 50p, with the £1 coin displaying the heraldic element in its entirety. This is the first time that a single design has been used across a range of United Kingdom coins.

Quoted from The Royal Mint

Damn, that’s quite a resume builder for a 26-year-old! *Small jabs of jealousy*

I’ve never felt this way about a radiator before.

Droog Design's Radiator
Wow, i would love to to be the owner of one or two of these. Not only are they stunning, but they’re probably much much more effective at that whole heating thing, than our terrible tiny P.O.S. radiators.

The Heatwave Radiator is designed by Joris Laarman, a young designer from Utrecht. It is composed of heating pipe with fiberglass reinforced concrete and is manufactured and sold by Droog Design. Due to it’s design and enlarged surface area, the Heatwave conducts heat far better than a traditional metal radiator or floor heating. It’s so nice, we are worried we will want to touch it all the time.

Keep Calm Ltd

Keep Calm Ltd
I know I one of the last to jump on this trend, but may I present my new fondness for Keep Calm Ltd. I actually wasn’t a huge fan of the originals (“Keep Calm and Carry On”), but that started to change when I saw the “Oh Deer” and Jack and I loved “Tea Revives You” for the kitchen. I simply adore the ones above, especially “Every Cloud has a Silver Lining!”

Yet another reason to go to MOMA’s new exhibit: The Newton Virus

The Newton Virus
Included in MOMA’s new exhibit, Design and the Elastic Mind, is this, The Newton Virus.

In the beginning were harmless computer viruses. Viruses born out of the wit of early computer adopters, viruses whose sole purpose was to surprise and amuse. A non-destructive form of artificial life.

The virus will then hit at random, but only once. It will not replicate itself, mail itself to your friends or destroy any of your files, but instead provides you with moments of blissful surprise and magic.

The Coolest Door in the Neighborhood

Coolest Door in the Neighborhood
How very Alice-in-Wonderland! We’ll have to go check it out ourselves!

We happened by the future family restauraunt, The Moxie Spot, on Atlantic Avenue and noticed their newly installed front door. The three-in-one design is made for adults, children, and pets, all at once…

The Mind Chair

This experiment was the starting point for a collaboration between Beta Tank and Peter Marigold. their ‘Mind Chair’ is a ubiquitous polypropylene chair fitted with a custom solenoid based sensor. A camera is plugged into the device, allowing the sitter to view the images on the camera through their back.

A replica of the prototype will be on view at the MOMA’s ‘Design and the Elastic Mind’ exhibition starting February 24.

Lover

Now that we are announced on facebook, I think its time we blog together too!

I think I want to do away with one of the columns over -=> Yonder

I think for the archives, I just want to have pictures and single words or ‘sound bytes’ reffering to other posts and not the callendar thing.

We can change the colors, although I think I would likt to use orange and a blue/turquoise as our colors.

That butterfly guy^ up there should certainly be replaced with your moose schematic.

And we really need to fix fonts, thats certainly your domain.

I loves you }: *

I’m going to go curl up and cuddle with you now, its late, thankfully a quite productive evening.

Ooo yeah, the other blog posts were just a couple of (should have been) quick toss-ups from our IM convo’s, and quoting from the source page, to see how this program worked.. was fun, but it is also quite adjustable.

Love you again! }:>

*MuAH!!*
