Springy Weekend

Springy Weekend
It was an absolutely beautiful weekend and I got very itchy with the spring cleaning bug. We’re still about half way through with all the rearranging, or I would have taken more pictures. Saturday was, much to my pleasure, nearly in the 80′s, which allowed me to open up all the windows and really air out the apartment. As you can see, more painting happened (I shall post the final product in a few minutes), Jack made a wonderful breakfast, we moved the couch into the bedroom, and worked on expanding the office area. We did end up going to a friend’s birthday party, but, it was, for the most part, just a productive weekend staying in.

I’ve never felt this way about a radiator before.

Droog Design's Radiator
Wow, i would love to to be the owner of one or two of these. Not only are they stunning, but they’re probably much much more effective at that whole heating thing, than our terrible tiny P.O.S. radiators.

The Heatwave Radiator is designed by Joris Laarman, a young designer from Utrecht. It is composed of heating pipe with fiberglass reinforced concrete and is manufactured and sold by Droog Design. Due to it’s design and enlarged surface area, the Heatwave conducts heat far better than a traditional metal radiator or floor heating. It’s so nice, we are worried we will want to touch it all the time.

*Whisles* Nice trash can!

I’ve been looking for something like this: color-coded, tall, thin trash cans, that make it easy to separate everything out. We’re currently doing it the old fashioned way, and it’s less than esthetically pleasing. But, at $140 each, why do I have to have such expensive taste!?

Lazy Sunday Morning

musical survey
Did a little music survey about a year ago and I thought it would be fun to do it again, now, and compare. iTune did change how they organize things so last year’s results may seem a little odd in comparison. (Yea, there’s an audiobook listed amongst the music, oh well.)

We haven’t even come close to really getting into my little-more-than-minor obsession with music; hopefully, we shall delve into that more later.

New cardboard table

Just got back from a wonderfully long weekend (more on that later). I scrapped that other table I was working on. It was getting clunky, ugly and I just couldn’t gather up the motivation to fix how it was leaning oddly to the side. I very happy with this new idea. It’s so easy to put together, it looks pretty cool, and it uses all these empty boxes we’ve have just sitting around.

Love Me, Love My Apartment

Real estate in New York City has a way of looming large in matters of the heart.

Some couples move in together rather quickly just because a lease has run out. Some can’t decide who moves where because neither wants to give up a good deal on an apartment. Others make the leap and marry because they fear that a co-op board will reject them if they are just living together. And there are people who rule out potential partners simply because of where they live.
